Aecon and AtkinsRealis have been selected to help manage the overhaul of the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station, a project valued at about $19 billion.
The work is intended to refurbish the plant and extend its operating life by 38 years, according to officials cited by Engineering News-Record.
The project is in Pickering, Ontario, and the selection was reported on Sept. 28, 2026.
Officials said the refurbishment is also aimed at strengthening Canada’s domestic energy sector amid U.S. tariffs and other actions by the Trump administration, though they said risks remain ahead.
Engineering News-Record reported the selection and project details.
