Los Angeles-based Woods + Dangaran has completed a minimalist desert residence in Southern Utah near Zion National Park.

The project was led by Brett Woods and Joseph Dangaran and is presented as a low-lying, horizontal structure embedded in the desert terrain.

The house is positioned against a 1,200-foot mesa and is designed to frame views of the nearby mesa and the southern desert horizon.

According to Archinect, the team drew on land art references, including Michael Heizer’s City in Nevada and works by Richard Serra, to shape the relationship between the building’s geometry and the topography.

The public-facing elevation is described as uninterrupted, with no visible windows or doors, and the feature is reported by Archinect in its coverage of the project.
